Rockport’s aviation community will come together once again as ACTS Aviation hosts this year’s Warbirds Over South Texas event, bringing students, families, and aviation enthusiasts to the Aransas County Airport for a weekend focused on history, education, and community collaboration. We cordially invite you to join us Nov 14-16 2025 at the Aransas County Airport for this free community event.

Among the participating organizations and museums, your hometown warbird operator, Vintage Air Tours will present three historic aircraft for Education Day and offer flight experiences throughout the weekend (BOOK HERE). The company’s PT-17 Stearman and Navion aircraft will help visitors connect with the region’s World War II heritage while offering an up-close look at classic aviation craftsmanship. Pilots will be on hand throughout the event to talk about the military training process, and the importance the Coastal Bend played to support the training efforts during WWII and beyond.

Local nonprofit Wings Over Rockport will feature an expanded STEM-oriented display designed to introduce students to career paths in aviation. The exhibit highlights real jobs available in the Coastal Bend—from USCG pilots and airport operations to aircraft maintenance and warbird restoration—and includes scholarship information, hands-on activities, and opportunities to meet aviation professionals. On November 15 and 16, Wings Over Rockport will also offer $5 HMMWV rides across the historic Rockport Air Base to raise funds for local aviation scholarships, giving attendees a chance to explore the airfield while directly supporting youth aviation education.

This year’s event also reflects a broader collaboration across the community. Through the support of Aransas Pathways, visitors can learn how aviation, history, and eco-tourism intersect along the Texas Coastal Bend. By promoting responsible ways to explore the coastline—whether by air, trail, or kayak—Aransas Pathways helps preserve local ecosystems while showcasing the region’s cultural and natural heritage- Take a flight or HMMWV tour and see what we mean!

Together, these organizations illustrate the growing synergy between aviation education, heritage preservation, and outdoor tourism in Aransas County. Their combined efforts ensure that Warbirds Over South Texas not only celebrates historic aircraft, and the men and women who flew them but also strengthens community engagement and inspires the next generation of aviators.
